Friday Thoughts

There are some favorites in here, some not favorites in here, which I realize isn't the point of the link-up, but this is real life so I thought I would still share and participate! Pardon the sometimes boring, somewhat complain-y content among the Friday faves!

// We made it. Phew. I feel like I say this most weeks out of the month, but this week has felt particularly slow, primarily because it's been somewhat taxing and emotionally draining. The earlier half of the week--honestly, it was probably just Monday on its own--was bananas and I'm so glad to have eliminated some stress as we approach the weekend.

// House hunting is not for the faint of heart. I've been so close on numerous occasions throughout this process to just throw in the towel because I feel like I can't ride this ride anymore. That sounds INCREDIBLY dramatic. Poor you, you're looking for a house and it isn't going exactly how you thought? How terrible that must be! I want to punch myself in the face like daily. But during the dips on this roller coaster it has felt disappointing and draining and that's okay, I'll just stay at home with my mom for the rest of my life. Hoping for some improvements and good news and trying to stay positive and, hopefully, one day we'll be in our house and this shit will hardly matter.

// However, things do seem to be stepping up and I hope I can share some pictures here soon. For now... our possible backyard. If all goes well, I can't wait to sit out there with Sammy and a few beers on summer nights. We'll just need a few string lights... ;)

// Easter Weekend was a lovely weekend. There was much dog snuggling and wishful furniture shopping. I prepped both desserts I made for Sunday on Saturday. Dyed eggs with my mom and brother and put together our niece's Easter basket. It was a lovely day at home and much needed.

Many Easter basket items courtesy of Christina who put together a great roundup of items that appeared on her blog a few weeks ago. I got her the Easter basket below in purple from Amazon and everyone thought it was so cute! We'll reuse it every year because I think it's the perfect size.

// EASTER. Easter was a really nice day. I spent the morning with my mom and siblings, we did our annual egg hunt even though we're all adults, and yes, we still get Easter baskets. Later, Sammy and I did an early dinner and dessert with his family, spent some one-on-one time with our niece after most of the family had gone home, and then we went by my grandma's for a late dessert. I've managed to stay away from all Easter candy except for a large Symphony bar that I ate with some pretzels on Monday night because...it was Monday night. Worth it.

Someone got a tiny basket too! ;)

I made a lemon blueberry trifle to bring to Sammy's house and it was a big hit.

And this cream cheese coconut pound cake (which may be, surprisingly, the most unhealthy cake I've ever made) for my family

I love eating by Sammy's parents. It's always a tight squeeze, but it's lovely to be surrounded by so much family.

Sammy's cousin and I showed up wearing the same Target mules and I was pumped about it.
We're obsessed. Go buy them immediately.

// Sammy sent me this snapchat while he was off on Monday and visiting his grandma and it makes me laugh. He packed up the Christmas china she's letting us have in china storage cases I bought (on Amazon if you're in need! can't beat the price). They fit perfectly and the package was a perfect amount for a set of 12 (or maybe it's 18?), despite all the effort he insists he exerted ;) he wanted to put everything in a cardboard box #classic

// My Old Navy order came in this week and I have a few things to return but definitely a few major favorite items.

These are super comfy because the bottom is padded and I love how secure they feel on my feet. Definitely going to be getting a ton of use out of them.

I'm obsessed with this jumpsuit. It's basically the sleeveless version of the navy one I have and love. It's so comfortable, super easy to throw on and be DONE with your outfit for the day, and I'll definitely wear it to work a ton with a denim jacket.

I love these as well, definitely plan on wearing them instead of any other pant this summer haha. I sized up just for roominess plus I knew the drawstring would help if they ended up being too big. I definitely didn't need to size up, but I'm not upset about it haha. They're flowy and boho and I dig it.

Another suuuper comfortable jumpsuit. The material is soft and doesn't cling which I love. LOVE the color and I think it'll pair really well with a denim jacket for work.

I envision this as more of a fall piece (hello black turtleneck underneath) rather than spring, but I'm sure I'll wear it this season as well! I sized up because sometimes ON jackets run small on me in the arms and I hate not being able to move my arms while wearing jackets. The materials is CRAZY soft, like I'm so surprised at the quality of this. I would never suspect ON (even though I'm a defender of ON quality anyway) because it definitely feels department store expensive. But it's also stretchy without feeling cheap, so it's a definite win for me.

That's all for me! I'm having dinner with a some girlfriends tonight and I'm thrilled to have some quality time with them... and a few cocktails ;) Saturday I have no plans #blessed and Sunday is my dad's birthday! One of my very favorite people on earth and my family loves to celebrate him. I anticipate some good food and many laughs. Wishing you all the same this weekend. xo

Linking up with Andrea and Christina!
