Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, all! On some levels it seems like this week went by so  s  l  o  w  but now that we're here, it seemed to have flown by. Either way, super happy it's the weekend!

On to the faves...

The first favorites I have to mention are the ultimate favorites...

One of my very favorite people got engaged last weekend! I've known Jacqueline since middle school and I absolutely can't believe she's going to be married! It's so exciting I can hardly stand it.

Isn't her ring beautiful? Her fiancé designed it entirely by himself. Good stuff, right?

Another HUGE favorite... Sammy and I found out his cousin and her husband are expecting their first child in August! Christina is one of my favorite women, honestly, of all time. I'm so thrilled for them. That babe is getting the best momma ever.

Now after those, these favorites are going to seem rather mediocre ;) but this is my life and sometimes it's mediocre.

I got this sweater from Loft in the mail last week and it's already a new favorite. I really love the shape of it and I've gotten compliments each time I've worn it.

I was out of the office Thursday and Friday of last week taking a project management course at the University of Chicago's continuing professional studies school, and while the class itself was, unfortunately, less than stellar, being back in the classroom is always a favorite of mine because I'm a huge dork.

My cousin sent us me this old photo she found this week. The little boy smiling at the very top is my grandpa and I couldn't love this photo more. How cute is he?! Don't you just love old photos? They're my favorite. I can't stop staring at this one.

Last weekend my parents planned the first of many "best of..." food trips we'll be taking around town. This one was to find the best deli sandwich. Others my dad has on the list: best Italian sub, best taco, best pizza, etc.

Before heading to three different delis to try their sandwiches, we stopped at this butcher in the city my brother has been wanting to visit "just because."

These kinds of signs are a favorite of mine.

The owner is 100% German and fit right in with my family ;) We picked up a variety of sausage to sample and I grabbed a bag of spaetzle on the way out. We'll definitely be back, probably when we go to that neighborhood to visit Dinkel's at Christmastime.

Sammy got the full brisket sandwich (and potato pancake and potato salad) and I opted for matzoh ball soup and half turkey sandwich from Manny's. While we thought the food overall was just okay, I loved the rye bread and the cafeteria style atmosphere and would go back just to stand in line with a dining tray ;)

The French Market by Ogilvie Transportation Center is so cute inside! Walking around with Sammy, talking about all the food we're going to eat when we're actually there in October was definitely a favorite.

I make a lot of jokes about my divorced parents being closer now than when they were married, but I really do think it's pretty lovely. Took us a long time to get back to this, but this view is a favorite.

(My mom being more chic than me is not necessarily a favorite but what can you do?)

I still can't get over how much I love this Kindle. I talked about some favorites I read this month on said Kindle in yesterday's book review post which you can read here, if you'd like.

I've felt this notion particularly strong this week. Empowered women = a forever favorite.

My favorite coworker and I had sushi with our former boss last night. We try to meet every month for dinner and our conversations are always a favorite. We tried Shakou which I've been wanting to try and loved it. The sushi was really fresh and the atmosphere was really cool (probably too cool for me).

I'm looking forward to a semi-relaxed weekend. Definitely plan on watching The Oscars which is always a favorite. And tonight Sammy and I are going to the Bulls game, which as you know, is a favorite of ours. I haven't seen that guy in a week, so I'm especially excited to see him tonight.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

xo

Linking up with Christina & Andrea!
