Weekending

Another fun filled weekend in the books! Sprinkled with some holiday festivity it ended up being a great combo of relaxation, productivity, and fun.

On Friday we met some friends at a bar in Edison Park in Chicago. One of my girlfriends asked us to come out because she was there celebrating the end of her last set of finals before she starts student teaching.

After a few shots of fireball we were all feeling a little less stressed ;) We danced, laughed, and had a lot of fun. It was great to just chill out in the middle of this crazy holiday season.

On Saturday, I slept in and recovered a little from my whiskey vibes ;) then headed out to Target to do a big last shopping trip. I may need to make a few more small stops, but I knew I would be able to get a decent amount done at Target. I needed some last minute gifts, baking ingredients for upcoming work parties, a few groceries, and wrapping paper! Which of course meant I went ham buying stuff.

Later that night Sammy and I went to see the final Hunger Games movie. I had heard from several people that they didn't like the ending, but I was satisfied by it. I didn't read any of the books though, so I don't have a strong emotional connection to the series. I actually go because it's Sammy who likes the movies even more than me. I like J Law more than anything.

Afterward we went back to his house, had dinner together, and then spent the rest of the night watching Christmas movies after he made us white chocolate hot cocoa.

This atmosphere made for a really magical and festive ambiance. I just love lights
So does Sammy thank god because I know our future home will be decked outttt in them. He also loves the Three Stooges if you'll note in the background ;)

Let's also note it was this man's 100th birthday this Saturday.

His voice has been the soundtrack to my life during the worst and the absolute best times. I turn to him for comfort, familiarity, and celebration. He's simply the best in the world. So, happy birthday to the chairman! Thanks for your voice.

On Sunday, my brother, sister, and I took my mom to see A Charlie Brown Christmas downtown. I had gotten her tickets for her birthday since she loves the Peanut characters so much.

It was a really cute production! Admittedly, I was never a huge Peanuts fan before this Christmas. Lucy makes me want to punch someone #sorryboutit and makes the whole thing almost unwatchable for me, but I will also admit to watching it twice this weekend before the show and crying during Linus' speech. Plus, my mom and I saw the movie last month when it came out and I thought it was really cute actually, so I guess I'm a convert!

We had brunch afterward at the Mity Nice Bar & Grill in Water Tower and it was excellent. I had a mimosa and eggs benedict over quinoa cakes and roasted asparagus which was so, so good.

Later that afternoon, Sammy and I made our annual gingerbread house! Making our house is one of my favorite traditions and I look forward to doing it every year.

Doesn't he have the cutest face?

My grandma came over afterward and we had dinner with my whole family and hung out together on the couch before it got too late for my early-to-bed boyfriend ;) Once he left I spent the night watching House Hunters, per usual, and The Office which I've recently started over again and am obsessed with. Such a great show.

I'm off to do some baking & wrapping! I live for this shit.
