Happy Monday, all! It has already been a Monday and it's only noon, but I'm trying to manifest some positive thoughts (fingers crossed!) to get me through till 4:15 p.m. haha.
It was a FULL family weekend, just how I like it.
FRIDAY
I went over to Sammy's grandparents house after work on Friday for some Lou Malnati's and quality time with his grandpa. The whole family was there (except for Sammy who was working which sucked) and those of us who hadn't met him yet, got to meet the newest cugino in our family :)
James Matthew is the sweetest boy and we love him so much already.
I stayed until a little after 8 p.m. before heading home where I promptly got into bed to watch The Golden Girls ;)
SATURDAY
We slept in on Saturday which was amazing and then spent the morning together before Sammy had to go to work. I did a few little things around the house but mostly lounged around. I watched The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix and liked it a lot.
Later that evening, my mom and I went to Catigny Park in Wheaton for their French picnic night. They had a mini Eiffel Tower set up and had live music playing (some in French) and sold crepes and lemonade.
We used the Sky View app to check out all the constellations and planets and just enjoyed hanging out together.
SUNDAY
Sammy took Sunday off work so we could all be together for the San Francesco festival in Stone Park which is an old school Italian fest his grandpa enjoys every year. We ended up finding a medical van that would be able to transport him to the festival and while it was an exhausting and emotional day for him (and all of us), it meant a lot that he was able to go this year.
We got set up in the VIP tent this year which was a helpful as it was less crowded than other areas of the festival.
And the last member of our family got to meet James :)
After the festival, my dad and I got together for our annual trip to Ravinia.
We came prepared ;)
This year we saw Steve Martin and Martin Short and I loved it. They're favorites of ours (I've mentioned Father of the Bride only a million times on this blog of mine) and they definitely didn't disappoint.
I got home around 11 p.m. which meant I only got about 4-ish hrs of sleep last night which I'm sure is adding to the very standard "Monday" feelings over here.
Grateful to have spent so much time with family this weekend. And now I countdown to Thursday which is the official mark of my long weekend :)
xo
